Hiring Manager, Obsidian Entertainment

Since joining Obsidian Entertainment in early 2008 as the first and only Hiring Manager, Jim has taken on the challenges of building a recruiting department from the ground up with the constant goal of finding the best talent to make the best RPGs. Coming from a college career development background, Jim has made it a major goal to help prepare future game developers by speaking at colleges and conventions on how to enter and succeed in the game industry. Meet Jim in person and hear him speak at the GameX Career Forum on Sunday, October 25. This day-long games education conference is free to GameX attendees.

 

Eric Ruth

Eric Ruth started Eric Ruth Games in 2007 in Baltimore, Maryland.  Since its inception, Eric has created 8 fully functional gaming titles released for free via his website to the gaming public.  Among these products are the wildly successful "Angry Video Game Nerd's Angry Video Game" and the doujin sensation "Mega Man Rocks!"  Eric has also worked with many other game developers over the course of his work; from Harmonix's Kasson Crooker and Konami's Thomas Lichtenstein to Hollywood musician Martin Blasick and Volition's Jake Kaufman.  Check out Eric’s demo of “Key Velocity,” an educational software package that teaches the fundamental art of touch typing through the music & rhythm gaming genre, in the Philly Game Jam area.

 

Martin C. Henley

Martin C. Henley is a freelance pen-monkey who has worked with White-Wolf Publishing/CCP North America on numerous projects. He is an aspiring comic writer and all-around pain in the ass geek-nerd. He is co-creator of Shadowstories which makes him co-creator of the most awesome thing to melt your face lately. Beyond this he has several irons in the fire which means you probably don’t want to approach him hastily because that dude has a collection of hot irons, were you not listening to the first part? David Hill

David Hill is a freelance writer, editor and game designer from the Philadelphia area. His work appears in various games, including White Wolf Publishing's Vampire the Requiem, Werewolf the Forsaken and Hunter the Vigil lines and Catalyst Game Studios' Shadowrun. Razor Kids, a product he wrote for the Hunter the Vigil game line, won the 2009 Ennie Award for Best Electronic Product. Chuck Wendig

Chuck Wendig is a 30-something freelance penmonkey. He's written too much, and should probably stop, but he won't. At present, he's written for, or developed, over 85 books for White Wolf Game Studios. He's had a handful of short stories published. He's written a couple screenplays and is currently working on a hush-hush television project. He's thinking about branching out into menus, pamphlets, or witty doormats. Give him a wide berth, as he might be drunk and untrustworthy. Filomena Young

Filomena Young is a full time writer, mother, and freelancer with the lance to prove it. She has published some short fiction at a few web ‘zines, as well as in at least one anthology of short fiction. Her work has appeared in a number of pen and paper role playing game books showcasing her ability to blend creative and technical writing. Grant Shonkwiler, Game Programmer and Designer
Megatouch Games (An AMI Entertainment Networks Company)

Grant Shonkwiler has been creating games since he was 12 years old designing levels for his friends to play in Warcraft 2. Shonkwiler currently works for Megatouch Games as a Game Programmer and Designer bridging the gap between the creative and technical side of the company to create the next great touchscreen games. He has also written and spoken on game development at several conferences, and spends time helping students and future game developers achieve their dream. Darius Kazemi President, Orbus Gameworks

Darius runs Orbus Gameworks, a company that's building gameplay data metrics tools to help developers keep track of what their players are doing in-game. Before Orbus, Darius did gameplay metrics at Turbine Inc for MMORPGs including Dungeons & Dragons Online and Lord of the Rings Online. He is also a technology officer for the IGDA Education SIG, a committee member for the Boston Postmortem, and spends a good deal of his free time giving advice on how to break into the game industry. Darius will be conducting the session “Do You Know Your Neighbor? Networking 101” along with Grant Shonkwiler at the GameX Career Forum on Sunday, October 25.
